Olive was born in Jamaica and was called to the Jamaican Bar in 1982 and practiced there until 1984 when she moved to Trinidad and Tobago and joined the Firm. She is now the head of the Firm's Intellectual Property Department.
In the course of her IP practice Olive handles registration of all types of intellectual property, provides commercial advice on intellectual property issues and co-manages, with the Litigation Department, intellectual property based litigation.
Olive's clients include a wide array of both local and foreign clients across multiple sectors, including, among others, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, home and health care, food and beverage and retail companies.
Olive's practice brings her into close contact with the local Intellectual Property Office and with close to 30 years of experience is very well known by the IPO staff and other stakeholders in this practice area. Olive has also served on a number of committees appointed by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the purposes of reviewing and considering the IP laws of Trinidad and Tobago including considering how such laws interact with Trinidad and Tobago's international Treaty obligations.
Olive also keeps up with worldwide IP developments by regularly attending seminars and training sessions put together by the World Intellectual Property Organization and she is also a member of the International Trade Mark Association.
Apart from her Intellectual Property practice Olive also has a flourishing estate planning practice which includes the preparation of wills and trusts and the general administration of estates.
Olive is happily married with two (2) children and is at present relishing the joys of grand motherhood. When she is not working and with her grandchildren you are most likely to find Olive at the mall.
